We dont need to be the lacky of USA running off to every dispute around the world that has no impact on Australia. You dont see countries such as Canada or New Zealand being their lacky. How the hell did the ANZUS treaty get us involved in Afghanistans that cost 40 or so young aussie lives?? Or 550 lives in Vietnam. What did we learn??
