@slamdog....That is changing rapidly. As you probably know from my postings on the matter, I favour Hydrogen for EVs and ICE powered vehicles.
Thus, Natural Gas (Methane CH4) is the ideal feedstock. By various forms of reduction we get H2. So I expect gas prices to keep rising, and oil to start falling, over the next decade.
BTW The byproduct C (carbon) is Carbon Black, which is useful for anodes.
