Hey MaryJane - it's 10tpa of HPA, not 2 - they received a grant to upgrade the facility - and it's 10tpa of the Boehmite too.
The rest of the PPF was upgraded to 350tpa of the various products. The feedstock is the same for all, so all they've got to do is prove the solvent extraction method, and that scale question will be answered, and that should happen in the next few months with commissioning completion.
It's a long bow to suggest that, FYI are ahead of A4N regarding HPA development.
These companies are at very different stages and are running very different races. HPA is in the research and development section of the Alcoa presentations as of Sept 22, so it's going to be a long road and one that Alcoa is obviously not in that much of a hurry to travel. And why would they be? The HPA market is still pretty small, the global macro picture has been bleak, and they've copped a bit of a hammering to their SP. I think if it happens, it will be in 2027 - and that will suit some investors just fine.
