BHP is not happy with its strike-prone operation at Escondita, so it is no secret that it wants to expand its Australian copper mining. That BHP is again talking to Oz Minerals makes sense in that regard, and also on the basis of proximity to BHP's Oak Dam copper deposit, which itself is not far from Olympic Dam.
On the green-is-good zeitgeist, copper, and battery-grade lithium and nickel are positive story lines, so BHP's copper plans for Australia are relevant. NWH has worked for Oz Minerals at Carrapateena and for BHP at Olympic dam.
NWH has so much work locked in that it should not need tailwinds to help boost its SP, but good tailwinds are always welcome.
