Hampers are the new gold. They are also the highest margin item in the group stable. MBH stated in November that they had an abundance of stock on hand at HGA for Christmas. It appears that many hamper combos still went out of stock just before and after Christmas, which points to even stronger demand than the company expected. Pleasingly, almost all hampers were back in stock by mid-January, which is also reassuring from a supply chain perspective. A random visit to the Gifts Australia website at anytime of the day or night will show constant sales within recent minutes thanks to a sales ticker. While reassuring in itself, I have seen a noticeable recent uptick in sales of hampers on that website amid the mix of general gifts. Since Gifts Australia is not the primary domain for hamper sales, it bodes well that these high-margin products are also selling quickly through the secondary channel. I think the aspirational target of $100m in revenue for the group this financial year will be smashed out of the ballpark.
