I'll be honest, I normally post complete trash as BRN HC is in the toilet at the moment, but I'm curious why you think a 3-5 year lead would be erode due to commercialisation timeframes?
The same companies that are 3-5 years behind will also face the same timeframes, challenges, etc but lets boil it down to maybe and maybe not as far as the lead eroding. What else do you think can be added? Commercialisation is a requirement for everyone, not just Brainchip.

Existing tech companies have existing customer bases to tap into
The same companies may have access to larger resources including staff and cash (although Brainchip have plenty of both
Maybe Not
Dozens of patents that are also progressively filed and approvedA second product, Akida1500, added to the repertoire
Existing technology is easier to buy/license than to re-invent the wheel
Large timeframe to saturate an empty market before competitors arrive
