Think of it this way. When the SP was over $2 because of the Mercedes episode and you lent out all your shares at $2. You were paid $2 and if the lending fee was 5% got paid another 10c. So you have $2.10 to spend elsewhere.
I was under the impression that when shorters borrow shares they don’t pay for the borrowed shares but instead pay an agreed monthly fee. But eventually must return all the borrowed shares no matter what the share price is.
The whole purpose of shorting is to borrow shares at a high price, force the share price down by selling shares at a lower price then purchasing at a lower price to return but pocketing the difference.
Just my opinion.
