Qualcomm Snapdragon8 Gen3 will be available soon. As stated "Qualcomm has spent considerable time and resources to enable high-performance AI on both the smartphone and PC with its iterative approach to performance and its AI software stack. The real question will come down to how much OEMs and developers will be able to take advantage of those capabilities, or whether we will have to wait another cycle to see these AI applications really take hold."
The question here is will Qualcomm's approach to edge AI with it's "CPU/GPU/NPU/Software stack" stand the test of being "future proof" for developers when there will be a choice of moving forward to pure neuromorphic edge AI, provided by the ARM/Renesas/Brainchip chip that will be released VERY SOON. As I have mentioned before, big techs like Qualcomm have spent considerable time and resources already and they will be hard pressed to acknowledge the future of edge AI is pure neuromorphic computing...they just cannot shoot themselves in the foot!
It will be very interesting when Renesas release its ARM based chip with Akida 2.0 and comparison will be made with Qualcomm's chip. Even more interesting is that Accenture has a very strong association with Qualcomm and the advice Accenture will give Qualcomm about the future, given that Accenture is bullish on neuromorphic computing. The good thing about Qualcomm's stack platform is that if it needs to switch to pure neuromorphic computing at any stage it can easily do so i.e, just take away the CPU/GPU/NPU layers and throw in Akida instead...plus, the Meta TF platform can easily convert any trained previous algorithms to work on Akida so there will be little "wastes". The question is how long can Qualcomm milk its current "edge AI" stacked platform and resist going pure neuromorphic when the "Japanese" are rolling out pure neuromorphic chips!
