My goodness Sumgenius, your comments do lead me back to book I read to my son. It's called The Giver by Lois Lowry. It's about a world of Sameness. Where everything is the same. The scientists have taken away colour from people. People don't see different colours. They take away the direct warmness of the sun so that people don't experience sunburn. When they get to teenage hood and they have their first dream about another person they have to start taking a pill so that they take away their desires. They take mountains and hills away and replace it with flat land. No snow......you know all the extremes and just replace it with sameness. Sounds like you. Highly recommend it to you. Its an interesting read. My nine year old loves it.
