long term contracts usually involves the quote of NEWC price on an agreed date prior to each shipment is confirmed. The price is still subject to the market actions on GC, therefore the above issue still applies. Having said that, even between the coal producers, they can initiate a trade to pump up the price when the supply is tight. So… it is largely dependent on supply and demand situation.
