The Model 3 was supposed to be (and is) the affordable EV for the masses. They can be purchased in the US for $25,000 after state and federal tax credits (worth $10,000 in total).
The average cost of a new car in the US is $47,000. If buyers aren’t incentivised en masse by an EV that is already >$20,000 cheaper than the average new car price, why would they be incentivised by a slightly cheaper model?
