Fair enough mate, but anecdotal preferences don’t represent the wider market. It appears that the lowest possible price isn’t the only factor for car sales, otherwise the average car price wouldn’t be US$47,000. The point is that EV’s are already offered at extremely compelling price points, yet they still don’t dominate sales in many markets. For example, EV’s sales have just plunged 40% in Germany following the removal of incentives.

Sales are either waning or plateauing in Western Europe and the USA, which are the number 2 and 3 car markets after China. It will be interesting to see how EV sales play out over the next 12-24 months. Hopefully Chinese EV demand continues to drive demand, but I’m a little nervous about being wholly reliant on one country, particularly one that is known to manipulate markets and fudge their sales data.
