Thanks for that information on breaking into the ASX 200. It is the obverse side of the coin on which I have hitherto attached significance. That is, the low SP had more to do with Instos exiting than the performance of the company. The corollary of that is that the SP would tend to rise when Index Funds want in, because NWH looks like moving up a rung on the ASX ladder. There are those funds who will wait for confirmation, and those funds who will take punt and get in early.
Index and other Funds, I have read, report their investments on specific dates, and they may punt on a high-conviction investments in a stock that does not suit their specified range of stocks, provided they can window dress their portfolio before the next reporting date. Their own buying pressure may be self- fulfilling, thus obviating the need to sell for appearances sake.
