There's a fair bit of rain in southeast Queensland - Brisbane from 0900 AEST has had 9.2 millimetres thus far - but with a few exceptions such as Casino (not a graingrowing area - 10.2mm from 0900 AEDT), northwestern NSW and other regions of the latter state are missing out. Wagge Wagge in the NSW Riverina does not have any rain forecast for the next week.
I've not compared what's occurring with the median performance over many years, but NSW and Victoria are becoming dry with a warm to hot few days over Easter predicted.
Whether this is indicative of a forthcoming drought is the question, although the rainfall highlighted above should help soil moisture.
