My personal opinion is that the constantly criticised technology advances being made by Brainchip are actually ensuring ongoing full patent protection for a further 20 years each time an exciting novel invention occurs.

The foundational patent for a spiking neural network processor was filed in 2008.

There have been tens of further patents filed and each patent had the opportunity to restart a fresh 20 years so long as the novel invention being protected was not something which was obvious based upon a reasonable interpretation of the foundational patent.

While I will leave it to others to examine every one of these patents it seems obvious that at least AKIDA 2.0 with TENNS & ViT integrated in the neural fabric is well beyond anything that is just a reasonably obvious improvement of the 2008 foundational patent.

The CEO Sean Hehir has made clear that Brainchip has to continue to push its technology forward and keeping the patent wall in tact is one of the many reasons for doing so.

The problem faced by the person in your example is that he had one good idea and that was it and his time just ran out.
