If this article is correct then Brainchip is looking to simplify the process of implementing AKIDA Pico by providing a chip option to compliment the IP.
I recall Douglas Fairbairn at MegaChips was interviewed after the Brainchip partnership was announced and amongst other things he said that they were considering whether to produce AKIDA as a chip to service their less sophisticated customers who did not have the ability to design in IP:
“For its silicon, BrainChip is using GlobalFoundries' 22nm FD-SOI process. As for supported data formats, it can run FP32, INT8, and INT4 neural models, though INT8 is the prime target for the intended use cases.…
BrainChip aims to make the Akida Pico available as a standalone chip or IP block that makers can integrate into their own SoCs and microcontrollers.”
