On another forum, one can see some excellent research into the publicity BrainChip and Akida are receiving from very credible sources. One example is a snippet from a book called Neuromorphic Circuits by Alice Parker, a professor of Electrical and Computer engineering, Systems University for Southern California. The word on what BrainChip has developed is certainly spreading ... not just in the commercial world but also in academia.
"Interest in the brain, and in neuromorphic circuits, electronic circuits that model the brain, has increased dramatically in the last two decades. Much like the interest in outer space in the last half of the twentieth century, the brain is now the final frontier. Modeling the brain and neurons in the brain with electronics is massively difficult, and progress historically had been slow. Neuroscience, the science of the brain and neurons is exploding. While there were several waves of interest that foretold the final emergence of artificial intelligence as a useful tool for solving practical problems like face recognition, voice recognition, speech recognition and human identification, there had been fewer waves of interest in artificial neuron hardware apart from the interest in artificial neural networks that began with a coarse, simplified model of biological neurons and the biological brain. Now, however, new technologies, new circuits and new architectures have been fused into structures that are increasingly brain-like, more neuromorphic. The latest Mercedes- Benz concept car, the Vision EQXX, uses a neuromorphic chip from California- based artificial-intelligence developer BrainChip to create systems based on thecompany's Akida hardware and software. for example."
