I think it was a sign of progression if anything. There has to come a point in the business cycle that the need for sales staff diminishes rapidly and more focus is added to providing solutions for existing partnerships/potential customers that are already deeply involved. It was already explicitly said that a customer was the driving force behind the updates to the initial release of Akida.

Look at all the companies listed by FF, BRN doesn't need to "sell" it to anyone they need to provide a solution that will initiate sales and it seems that is a joint task.
