Most premium smart phones have included on-device learning for some years.
Apple introduced an NPU in their A11 chip from 2017; the A15 is far more capable (e.g. includes greater on-device ML than the A11), A16 is a logical next iteration.
Samsung also has been making great strides wtih on-device ML since they introduced it in 2018 on their Exynos 9820.
A more recent offering, Qualcomm have significant on-device learning capabilities in their Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform.
Akida is just one such competitor in a maturing, crowded sector.
