No. I don't think it's fair.

The minimum parcel I can place via the bog-standard, garden variety NABTRADE is $500.
Also, if my attempted trade is "too far from market price" it is not allowed.
Even within these constraints if it looks like I might be doing something dodgy (attempting manipulation) I get a "please explain" phone call.

And yet,
We see 1 share or silly sized trades go through the gate all the time (as you have pointed out)
We see bids way below and way above the market in the queues.

Who gets to do this and why is it allowed for some with special privileges?

We also know there are traders who pay a fee to host their trading platforms on the "Cuckoos" - these are servers sitting in the same room as the ASX trading computer connected to the trading system via very-high speed fibre-optic cable (even though only a few feet in length).

People with access to these servers can pull their bogus SELL order after detecting a BUY at their bid price - before the trade can happen.
They can also buy at fractions of a cent when we can only buy at best 1/2 cent increments.
They can do a whole bunch of other things we can't.

No, I think if it was "fair" every trader would have the same privileges.

But no one is holding a gun to your head making you BUY or SELL.
