1/ iirc you stated that your “yardstick” was “what the company says”. That is VERY different from “insisting that management should provide accurate guidance”. Simple. Stop twisting the point, as per usual.

“Here you are stating that we shouldn’t accept company guidance alone.”
Accept it for what it is: it is NOT a “promise”, it is not a “deadline”, it is an estimate (usually an inherently optimistic one) based on specific knowledge, various assumptions, plans and expectations. My clear point was, and remains, that anyone basing their expectations solely - or even predominantly - on company guidance is setting themselves up for a world of pain; exhibit A: AGY forum. Those who draw upon training/expertise/experience/precendents/peers/critical analysis/modelling/etc alongside guidance (and understanding the basis of that guidance) can usually establish more reasonable and realistic personal expectations and be far more aware of the likelihood and significance (or otherwise) of various issues or setbacks that might or do occur.
This repetitive narrative that “the company is shit because things keep taking longer than they indicated” is getting tiresome. Stockhold syndrome?


2/ guidance vs statements about past expenditure are completely different things. You are scraping the barrel to even consider that you are making some type of relevant point by implying that if guidance is not met that somehow a statement about past expenditure can’t be “trusted”.


Focus. Getting sloppy trying to attack instead of actually focussing on the points made.
