I have 2 different opinions why shorts want your shares to borrow. First scenario is that it allows them to keep stock price artificially low to to enable a hostile takeover bid to succeed at perhaps 10 Australian dollars. If thats not achievable it allows cheaper partnership deals to take place for individual indications.
So in fact the shorting has not been that risky as it delayed entry of the new paradigm and it made it cheaper to invest in it for the big boys.
I see all the big pharmas taking a piece of the action. Just like there are 15 companies selling Cart Therapy...
