The following paper makes for interesting reading particularly with regards to the latency and accuracy issues associated with Cloud AV when weather intervenes while driving:

The researchers use Nvidia technology for their experiments but reading too the papers conclusion they do not see it as the ultimate solution and suggest exploring other technologies including RISC-V with Accelerator and neuromorphic SNN.
The takeaway for AV success is that Cloud without Edge Compute is most likely mission impossible.
