I think he described that deal as ‘a five year architectural license’ which as I understand it would mean the customer carries all the responsibility for design, production, sales and warranty.
Brainchip just sits back and receives the money. Brainchip would likely offer engineering support but the size of such a customer would mean significant in-house expertise and resources so probably would not be very onerous practically speaking.
At the AGM CEO Sean Hehir mentioned the status of the three major customer engagements where they were in the hunt. As we know one was unsuccessful, one was on hold and one was still active and he remained confident. He also believed that the one on hold was not dead but delayed.
He did not identify any of the customers however he did say the one that was on hold was because of internal issues at the customers end reflected in it laying off a large number of employees and its share price falling 60%.
My belief was that this customer was Microchip because it meets this description.
Additionally you might recall at CES 2024 Microchip was demonstrating with Brainchip and took part in the Brainchip podcast interviews and therein Microchip stated they were ready to take their AKIDA offering to their customers. I think the Microchip employee on the podcast had the last name Drake.
I have over the last two days attempted to find this podcast again without success and assume it has been taken down. It could just be I am not looking in the correct place.
In any event assuming I am correct about it being Microchip it provides an example of the size of the customer needed to achieve a sale of that importance.
