AI is a huge new driver of 24/7/365 power requirements growth factor. It seemed fair to ask a AI program what's on for GLE in 2025.
I had some fun with https://www.perplexity.ai first how much power and my todays power extrapolation.
How much extra power is used by AI compared to a google search
    Answer
AI-powered searches and interactions consume significantly more energy than traditional Google searches. A ChatGPT query uses approximately 2.9 watt-hours (Wh) of electricity, which is nearly 10 times more than a Google search query that uses about 0.3 Wh.This substantial difference in energy consumption is due to the complex processing required by AI language models. The energy usage of AI-powered searches can be contextualized as follows:
    1. A single ChatGPT inquiry uses energy equivalent to illuminating a light bulb for about 20 minutes.
    2. Google's AI-powered search feature consumes 10 times more energy than a regular search query.
    3. IIf all of Google's daily searches (approximately 3.5 billion) were to use ChatGPT-like AI, it would require an additional 10-29.3 TWh of electricity annually, comparable to Ireland's entire electricity consumption.
This increased energy demand has significant implications:
    • Data centers housing AI servers are projected to double their global energy usage by 2026, potentially consuming as much power as Japan.
    • The tech industry's AI focus has led to substantial increases in greenhouse gas emissions, with Google reporting a 48% rise compared to 2019.
    • By 2030, data centers are expected to consume 8% of total power in the U.S., up from 3% in 2022.
As AI technology continues to advance and become more prevalent, its energy consumption is expected to grow exponentially, posing challenges for sustainability and climate change mitigation efforts.

    About GLE-
Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) is a joint venture company that holds the exclusive worldwide license for the Separation of Isotopes by Laser EXcitation (SILEX) uranium enrichment technology. This third-generation laser-based enrichment method offers potential advantages over current technologies in the nuclear fuel industry.GLE is owned 51% by Silex Systems Ltd., the developer of the SILEX technology, and 49% by Cameco Corporation, a major uranium and nuclear fuel provider. The company was formed in 2006 to commercialize the SILEX technology, with over $400 million invested in the program to date.

    Key Developments

    1. Technology Demonstration: GLE aims to complete a commercial-scale pilot demonstration of the SILEX technology by the end of 2024.
    2. Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility (PLEF): GLE has acquired 665 acres of land in Kentucky to build this facility. The PLEF could begin commercial operations as early as 2028.
    3. Department of Energy Agreement: GLE has an agreement with the US Department of Energy to re-enrich depleted uranium tails, potentially addressing the growing supply gap for Western nuclear fuel supplies.

    Potential Applications

GLE's technology offers three main commercial opportunities:
    1. Production of natural-grade uranium hexafluoride from depleted uranium tails.
    2. Production of low-enriched uranium (LEU) and LEU+ for existing reactors.
    3. Production of high-assay LEU (HALEU) for next-generation advanced small modular reactors.
The successful commercialization of the SILEX technology could position GLE as a significant contributor to global nuclear fuel production, supporting both current and future nuclear reactor fleets.

I did ask a lot more of course

Based on the search results and the current date of January 19, 2025, the following events are scheduled for 2025:
    1. Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) is on track to submit its license application for the Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility (PLEF) in mid-2025.
    2. GLE is expected to submit an environmental report for the PLEF in December 2024, which will be followed by the license application in 2025.
These events are part of GLE's ongoing efforts to commercialize the SILEX (Separation of Isotopes by Laser EXcitation) uranium enrichment technology. The submission of the license application is a crucial step towards establishing the PLEF, which has the potential to produce up to 5 million pounds of uranium oxide annually for approximately 30 years. It's worth noting that as of the current date, some of the previously planned milestones may have already occurred or been adjusted:
    • The commercial-scale pilot demonstration (TRL-6) of the SILEX technology was aimed to be completed as early as mid-2024.
    • The Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility (PLEF) was projected to potentially begin commercial operations as early as 2028, subject to various factors.
However, the most recent and confirmed scheduled event for 2025 is the submission of the license application for the PLEF.

The another Q response was "

    My favorite question

"what will successful outcomes do to the share price of Silex"

Successful outcomes for Silex Systems (ASX:SLX) are likely to have a positive impact on its share price, based on historical trends and market reactions. The company's share price has shown significant growth potential, surging 141% in 2022 and ending the year at $3.20.This demonstrates the market's positive response to Silex's progress.Silex has experienced a dramatic increase in market capitalization, growing from ~$35M to as high as ~$1.19bn in recent years. This suggests that further successful outcomes could lead to additional share price appreciation.Key factors that could drive Silex's share price growth include:
    1. Technology milestones: The completion of the pilot demonstration program for the SILEX uranium enrichment technology, scheduled for 2025, could be a major catalyst for share price growth.
    2. Commercial opportunities: Successful commercialization of Silex's technology for uranium enrichment and silicon enrichment could lead to significant revenue streams.
    3. Industry demand: Increasing global demand for nuclear power and secure uranium supply chains could benefit Silex's market position.
    4. Government support: Participation in programs like the US Department of Energy's High Assay Low Enriched Uranium (HALEU) availability program could provide additional funding and credibility.
It's important to note that while successful outcomes are likely to positively impact Silex's share price, investing in stocks carries inherent risks. The company's beta of 1.70 indicates that its share price has historically been more volatile than the overall market.Investors should be aware that Silex Systems shares are likely to rise strongly in times of market optimism but may sell off more sharply during periods of market fear.
