Here's some reading that is sort of on-topic. A book with the title "Doctored: Fraud, Arrogance, and Tragedy in the Quest to Cure Alzheimer's" was published earlier this month. Twas authored by an investigative journalist, Charles Piller. The blurb says of it ... "an arresting deep dive into how Alzheimer’s disease treatment has been set back by corrupt researchers, negligent regulators, and the profit motives of Big Pharma."
It is all to do about the misdirection of Alzheimer's research down the dry gulch of amyloid-beta plaques - not the first time that "proper" science has been shanghaied thus giving succor to crackpots like Bobby Kennedy's idiot son. If the book's claims are correct then it is a blunder of generational scale, having put back Alzheimer's research by perhaps decades.
