We have been put in a situation where many nations are now looking at upping their defense budgets. With NATO ramping up defense budgets, hitting €423.3 billion in Europe and €4.6 billion in common funds for 2025, companies like Amaero and Velo3D stand to gain from the surge in demand for advanced aerospace and defense components. Amaero and Velo3D are well-placed to tap into this growth, especially with 23 of 32 NATO allies meeting the 2% GDP spending target and talks of a potential 5% goal.
Their $22 million USD, five-year deal, where Amaero exclusively supplies C103 and refractory alloy powders and serves as the preferred titanium alloy supplier for Velo3D’s Sapphire printers, strengthens their role in the U.S. supply chain, aligning with NATO’s push for resilient, re-shored manufacturing. The increased spending fuels demand for lightweight, durable parts for aircraft, missiles, and next-gen systems like hypersonics and drones, where Amaero’s expertise in refractory alloys and Velo3D’s precision printing shine. Amaero’s gas atomization tech, set to produce over 800 metric tonnes annually by 2026, and Velo3D’s integrated software and printers cater to NATO’s modernization needs, especially for high-temperature, extreme-condition components.
NATO’s 20% budget allocation for equipment and R&D further supports their focus on advanced materials, while policies favoring diversified supply chains open doors for both companies, particularly through Amaero’s Tennessee facility and Velo3D’s U.S. operations. Both companies can supply key NATO contractors. Boeing, a major player with F-15s and CH-47s, could use Amaero’s titanium powders or Velo3D’s printing tech for aerospace parts. Lockheed Martin, a Velo3D customer, relies on Sapphire printers for F-35 (12 ordered by the UK government) and space systems, using Amaero’s powders for mission-critical components. Raytheon, another Velo3D partner, could integrate their tech for Patriot missile systems. Airbus, supplying A400M and Eurofighter, might tap Amaero’s powders or Velo3D’s solutions to align with EU’s push for regional suppliers. Saab, with Gripen fighters, and BAE Systems, with combat vehicles, could also leverage their capabilities, especially as Sweden integrates into NATO and the UK remains a major contributor. Velo3D’s other partners, like SpaceX, Aerojet Rocketdyne, Honeywell, and Momentus, support defense and space applications, indirectly aiding NATO’s space initiatives.
Velo3D printers are already in play with multi national billion dollar companies. Getting the contract with them will boost Amaero and their credentials. Combine this with USA budgets and I think we will see large growth in '26 as expected.
