GENERAL: AIA: AIAL Auckland Airport shortlisted in renowned World Routes

Auckland Airport is the only Australasian Airport to be shortlisted for the
World Routes Marketing Awards 2013 in the categories representing airports
    over four million passengers.
The annual awards are regarded as the most prestigious awards in the industry
as they are voted for and judged by the airline community.

The awards provide airlines with the opportunity to have their say as to
which airport they think provides the best overall marketing services.
Auckland Airport is the only airport in Australasia to be shortlisted in this
year's awards in the three categories for airports above four million
passengers. Darwin was the only other Australasian airport shortlisted for
the awards in the one remaining category of airports under four million
    passengers.

Auckland Airport was shortlisted specifically in the category for airports
between 4-20 million passengers, joined by Athens International Airport,
Brussels Airport, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport and San Diego
    International Airport.
Glenn Wedlock, Auckland Airport's general manager aeronautical commercial,
says the airport is extremely proud to be shortlisted for this year's awards.
"We work very hard to create greater market opportunities for our airline
partners and it is gratifying to see our significant investment in air
services development being recognised by the industry."

"We strongly believe that our airline marketing partnerships are critical
components in driving tourism traffic and value for the growing New Zealand
    tourism sector," continues Mr Wedlock.

"We have had some significant wins recently with announcements from airlines
introducing new international capacity, such as China Airlines' decision to
provide an additional 30% capacity on its Taipei to Auckland route. These
increased capacity achievements have come about through hard work and
collaboration between the airlines, Auckland Airport and other key industry
    partners."

This is not the first time Auckland Airport has been recognised at the World
Routes Awards, having received awards at the last four ceremonies.

The winners of the World Routes Marketing Awards 2013 will be announced on 7
October at the World Routes Networking evening at Caesars palace in Las
    Vegas.
