Iran allots $54 to mineral exploration
TEHRAN, Aug. 15 (MNA) – An Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) official announced here on Wednesday that 500 billion rials ($54.08m) is spent for mineral exploration in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2007).
Ali Palizdar, the IMIDRO planning and development deputy, added last year’s figure was about 300 billion rials ($32.3m), terming exploration as the infrastructure of mineral industries development.
He said that 110 thousand meters of mines was drilled in the past year, adding the figure will be increased to 200 thousand meters in the current year.
Referring to Iran as a mineral country, he said that there is no limitation for the sector’s budget supply.
Palizdar said that the sector could help Iran grow in the economic field, adding $20.5 billion worth of projects are to be put into operation by IMIDRO.
