AIA 12/12/2013 08:30 GENERAL REL: 0830 HRS Auckland International Airport Limited GENERAL: AIA: AIAL Merits review judgment Last night the High Court released its judgment on various appeals against input methodologies set by the Commerce Commission under Part 4 of the Commerce Act. The input methodologies set out how certain information must be disclosed by airports. Some methodologies were appealed by Air New Zealand, and Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch airports. Charles Spillane, Auckland Airport's general counsel, says, "We have not yet completed a detailed review of the judgment. However, and regardless of whether any appeals are taken, our initial review indicates that the judgment provides valuable guidance on complex economic regulatory matters." "We welcome the High Court's acceptance of the airports' appeal in relation to the starting date for land valuation. Other than this, the approach of the Commerce Commission to the input methodologies in relation to airport information disclosure has been upheld by the Court." "The Commission recently concluded that Auckland Airport's aeronautical prices are acceptable and the information disclosure regime is effective. This judgment will not require Auckland Airport to reassess its current aeronautical prices, which apply through until 30 June 2017," says Mr Spillane.
