22 billion renewable project approved WA, page-81

Indonesia plans to use power from Sarawak Malaysia's hydro power for its new capital city.  Sarawak is building many more dams and hydro projects and is currently supplying power to the 1 million tonne pa aluminium smelter ( Press Metal aluminium) and to 3 huge alloy smelters. The power supplied to Sarawak Energy is less than 10 sen /kWh or US$ o.o23/kWh.  With so much excess power available at such a cheap price from hydro  and far closer to Singapore and Indonesia why would anybody waste 22 billion to build solar and windmills which only work a few hours per day at a much higher cost.

"Sarawak Hidro has agreed to supply power from Bakun to Sarawak Energy at less than 10 sen per kWh over 30 years."
