Victor Frankel noted that in the concentration camps the highest mortality occurred just after new year. He noted that people would create expectations that "the war [would] be over by the end of the year", then when it wasn't they gave up hope and would die.

For months there hasn't been a week go by where someone doesn't say, "we will hear something by [insert timeframe of choice]". And when we hear nothing out come the trolls to retort and sew fear, uncertainty and doubt. And, as much as we would like to think otherwise, confidence seems to erode just a little bit.

I wonder if we are not our own worst enemy by the constant speculation. I wonder if we wouldn't be best to 'not mention the war' and just wait. I think that those that still hold after years of waiting do so because they can see the upside and trust management to be able to deliver.

I propose an embargo on timeframe statements, if for no one else, so I can retain what little sanity, wits & hair I have left.
