Now dissociative amnesia is a solid state place for many people...what it does is allow them to replace memorys with none or to modify those memorys to suit their newly existing real-time view of the world..it is understood to be a coping mechanism originally...although I don't believe it is in anyway exclusive to this arena but i digress.
Given your new enlightenment can you remember any highly defended positions in the past on covid generally that might also fall into the very same category...just curious is all.
