AMP: Rebounding with the 'Footsie'?...
Event
The British Financial Services Authority (FSA) has eased solvency rules for UK life insurers. Essentially these rules forced UK life insurers to sell their equities in the weak sharemarket creating a vicious circle.
Companies are now allowed to apply for permission to fall below minimum thresholds, as long as the FSA was satisfied the breach was temporary and the company was still in sound financial shape.
Macquarie Research Equities (MRE) Recommendation
This change is seen as a catalyst that has led the FT100 higher over the previous two sessions, with it last night being up over 3.0%.
With AMP’s fortunes so closely linked to the FT100, today could see a good trading opportunity with a potentially sharp rally in the stock.
