Cooper’s super Q2 production

Cooper Energy Limited (COE) today announced record production of 24,569 barrels of oil for the quarter, exceeding the previous record by 100%. With both the Christies and Worrior discoveries commencing production, the company said it is “poised for continued strong production growth”.

Cooper’s 30%-owned Worrior-1 commenced production in early December 2003, and to 31 December produced a total of approximately 30,800 barrels. Of this, Cooper’s share was 9,240 barrels.


Christies-1 produced 35,870 barrels of oil, of which Cooper’s share is 8,967 barrels. The 25% owned discovery commenced free flow production at the beginning of October last year, averaging 250 barrels of oil per day (bopd). Midway through the month production was increased to 400 bopd, and is currently 600 bopd. Cooper said that the current production is “significantly higher than initial expectations”.

Cooper’s 25% stake in Sellicks contributed 6,362 bopd to total production, which marked a 23% decrease over the previous quarter. Oil production continued to decline during October and November due to increased water production.

Following the installation of a jet pump, oil production increased from 150 bopd to 500 bopd.

Cooper Energy did not complete any exploration activities during the December quarter.
