Queensland Bauxite Limited (ASX:QBL, the “Company” or “Queensland Bauxite”) is pleased to advise that it has retained Mr John Joseph Howard and his consultancy, Jabb Mining, to professionally manage and fast track the mine planning and related services at the South Johnstone Bauxite Project in North Queensland. Mr Howard is a highly experienced Mining Operations Manager with over 17-years’ experience within bulk commodity operations in both Queensland and New South Wales. This has been across various departments including production and operations, health, safety and environment, technical services, port services and mine site support. Most recently, Mr Howard has worked as a Senior Operations Manager in Queensland for open cut mining projects in the region, in charge of production and resource optimisation, health, safety and environment, technical services and mine site support. Mr Howard has been instrumental in the approvals gained, and the development of the projects including overseeing environmental and mining lease approvals, port approvals as well as working with other significant stakeholders. Mr Howard has also been Operations Manager for Xstrata Coal at a New South Wales open cut coal mine at Ulan. The directors of QBL believe that John has the ability and experience to logically examine mining fundamentals, recommending and implementing improvements to deliver better project outcomes on time and on budget. John has a practical, hands on and results-driven approach to his work and demonstrated success in bulk mining operations. With the advancement of our South Johnstone Bauxite Project, he will be a most valuable addition to the QBL team as we prepare to commence production. Mr Howard will work closely with Northern Resource Consultants Pty Limited which is providing specialist environmental consultancy services for the Company’s environmental approvals, management, planning, rehabilitation, investigations and assessments (both on-site and off-site) to ensure that development of South Johnstone is kept on a fast track.
