DIRECTOR: ABA: Abano Appoints Australian Director
Abano Healthcare Group (NZX:ABA) has today announced the appointment of Mr
Murray Boyte as an independent director.
Mr Boyte had a successful career in New Zealand before moving to Australia
where he now resides. Since 2002, he has been the chief executive officer of
Ariadne Australia Limited, an ASX-listed investment company with a
diversified investment strategy and operations in Australia and New Zealand.
Murray has held a number of governance positions in the transport, financial
services, investment and health services industries. He has a sound
understanding of the Australian and New Zealand investment market and
regulatory framework, as well as extensive trans-Tasman commercial
experience.
Chairman of Abano, Mr Trevor Janes, said: "Towards the end of 2014, the Abano
Board undertook a review to consider the appropriate skills which we believed
would add value to Abano as we continue to implement our growth strategy. In
particular, as our Australian businesses become an increasingly important
part of our strategy and generate over 50% of our gross revenue, we believed
it was important for us to have an Australian-based director.
"Murray's career spans more than 35 years and he has been involved in the
growth and evolution of companies in Australia, New Zealand, North America
and Hong Kong. He has considerable operating and strategic experience in the
Australian marketplace, which will be of value to Abano as we continue to
grow our Australian businesses".
Mr Boyte has been appointed to the Abano Board by the current Abano
directors, as permitted under Abano's constitution. He will hold office until
Abano's 2015 annual meeting at which time he will offer himself for election
by shareholders. The Board has determined that Mr Boyte is an independent
director, for the purposes of NZX Listing Rule 3.3.2.
