    Hi all.

Just did some more digging re; GDXJ and even spoke to a guy at VanEck. As mentioned in XSO, i was not 100% certain about that date range for the weighting. I made the assumption that because the date for adding/removing to the fund is 30 November (confirmed), that it would be the same for the % weighting alterations. As it turns out, the date of the weighting change is actually today!

@Ravgnome, or anyone else that's interested would you be able to help me pull some data? I realise it's too hard to get historical market cap data for all the shares in the fund, as the majority are listed on exchanges other than ASX. That said, if we are able to compare SP's and average volumes in the range we can find the outliers, then do more research on them specifically.

The list of stocks in GDXJ is here: http://www.vaneck.com/market-vectors/equity-etfs/gdxj/Holdings/ You can donwload a XLS file linked on this page.

If I was to design it myself, i'd have the following fields:

-All data contained in the XLS file from the Van Eck page.
    -SP on 24 Aug
    -SP on 30 Nov
    -SP on 9 Dec
-USD Converted market cap 9 Dec (to get started making a permanent solution, not using SP's)
-Variance between SP 24 Aug and 30 Nov (to check if they will remain in the fund)
-Variance between SP 24 Aug and 9 Dec (to check if they will have a significant weighting alteration)
    -Average volume (3 months)
-Average daily trade $ amount (3 months)

I expect the results will still be roughly the same as my current research, but it would be an interesting exercise and will most definitely be reusable, every quarter, for close to no-brainer trades. Over time, if we could build on above using market caps, we could automate and know what is going to happen even before Van Eck release the data to fund managers. They will release the data this Friday, so there is a 2 day window.

If anyone can help, I will happily provide all the analysis on the data, and help find us potential trades.
