I would say that might be where the problem lies. Just try this copy pasting into HC once more but doing this way.
Download the scans and open up in Excel. Copy from Excel then click the Start button . In the search box, type Notepad, and then, in the list of results, click Notepad. Paste into notepad, highlight all the text again, copy from notepad, paste into hotcopper and post without preview. See if that takes out the color tags.
Re: black tie, that is something you would need to contact support/admin about. Mods don't have the powers to agree/disagree with these kinda of requests.
