    before you choose any broker check with the regulators
    1. FINRA broker check (US)
    2. FCA broker check (UK)
    3. ASIC (Australia)

    why check?
    when I did check before deciding on mine, I came across popular online brokers (popular bc they're cheap), i found there were compliance reports stating that the broker took clients' funds.
