DIRECTOR: ANB: Nigel Williams appointed to ANZ Bank New Zealand Ltd

ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited (ANZ NZ) announced today the appointment of
Nigel Williams as a non-executive director of the company.  The appointment
is effective from today.

The appointment has been approved by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

Mr Williams is currently Alternate Director for Mr Mike Smith on the ANZ NZ
board and will cease to be Mr Smith's Alternate on 21 December 2015 when Mr
Smith's resigns as a director of ANZ NZ.

Mr Williams is Chief Risk Officer for the Australia and New Zealand Banking
Group Limited and former Managing Director, Institutional, Australia. He is a
director of Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank Co. Ltd. Prior to joining ANZ in
Australia, Mr Williams worked for ANZ in New Zealand and Southpac in New
Zealand.

Mr Williams is a graduate of Otago University, a former Director of NZX
Limited, E*TRADE Australia Limited and Australian Financial Markets
Association, and a past Board member of INFINZ.  Mr Williams is a member of
the New Zealand Institute of Directors, and in 2009 was awarded a fellow of
INFINZ. He was a member of New Zealand's 2008 Capital Market Development
Taskforce.

Other ANZ NZ Directors are chairman John Judge, Mark Verbiest, Tony Carter,
Joan Withers, ANZ NZ CEO David Hisco, ANZ Group CEO Mike Smith and ANZ Group
CEO designate, Shayne Elliott.
