No you're wrong Woody. From the production of red meat (cattle and sheep) worldwide, enough methane is released to make up roughy one third of all the (potentially damaging) greenhouse gases originating from human activity. Around about another third comes from power generation (ie coal/gas) and the other third comes from transport (planes, trains and automobiles). If we stopped eating all red meat there'll be less greenhouse gas (methane) produced but more protein rich crops will need to be cultivated. To produce enough high yielding crops, you need carbon intensive inputs like fertilisers and pesticides, however these inputs are carbon intensive to manufacture. Swings and roundabouts.
