You can tell they have either finished or are near the end of the the trial period by the language used and what they say. As an example talk about how to analyse the results as if they have already done it or are currently doing it themselves, and it’s very clear that they have finished recruitment as they don’t provide a link to apply to participate, as they have done in prior articles (so they may need to update the clinical trials website).
