The Lowrys (original Westfield founders) wanted out. They had assets all over the world. When they sold out, the Australian and New Zealand assets were kept in the entity they called Scentre group, still using Westfield branding. The rest of the world assets were bought by Unibail-Rodamco. Original Westfield holders were given the option of taking on URW CDIs (along with some cash) that were to remain listed in Australia. So although both Westfield branding, no financial links anymore.
