Hi jinny, the shorting theory may be part of the explanation, but then again..... Personally my believe for all of 2c is that overall, worldwide there is not the belief that Gold is heading into a multi year bull market. It is acknowledged that the world is in a multi year stock market bubble with insane valuations and unicorn companies abound, however there is still the belief that the FED will rescue the market if anything untoward should occur.
Caronavirus may be the Black swan that changes that.
