Yeah, I know what you mean about holding longer term - I have done that with MAE which was formerly CPC - I developed a view that this was a very well managed company and I went away from equities for quite a while when I was doing other stuff - I came back to really getting involved again and MAE is kicking along nicely. Kinda makes it hard to sell.
In the more conservative part of my portfolio I'm starting to get a bit attached to WOR for similar reasons.
It is hard to be TOTALLY objective and ruthless when you invest time in getting to know companies!
