My point on the Directors options is aligned with yours. I agree there's no risk to the company. I'm saying that there is also no reward to the directors unless the company is successful concluding that the Directors are betting on success rather than taking significant upfront payment at no risk to themselves.
I've assumed a 50% farmout and yes it could be less.
US$ 20/bbl is pretty standard figure for valuing oil in the ground. It accounts for time value of money, unspecified risk and government take and is used by oil companies and analysts alike in valuing oil and gas properties.
That said there are many ways to skin a cat. How about sharing yours?
