RE: The construction of this port will involve dredging 3 million cubic metres (M3) of seabed. The dredge spoil will be dumped into the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.
Three million M3 is absolute peanuts, some mines move one million M3 per day. I know of a 92 million M3 dredging job that is currently on-going.
The mentioned three million M3 won't be dumped on the barrier reef, it will be used as fill to build the port that will help correct Australia's deteriorating terms of trade.
