I think BNPL has definitely taken some market share, although spending on both platforms may be up so hard to compare. If you ask a group of 40-50 year olds if they use zip or apt vs credit card credit card will will, despite the high interest in a lot of cases. ask the same to 20-30yo and no where near as many will have credit cards, unless it's linked to a home loan package (mine is, never used it). Most will have both APT and zip.
I use APT when I want to just spread out payments, to keep cash in my bank, for things like protein powder that's $150 a pop, or if there's a sale at myer for the mrs, generally under $300.
I use zip money for more expensive stuff, recently a bedroom suite, previously a thermomix the wifey had to have ( it is pretty good though).
