I would prefer the "old people" tag with CCs and Paypal, rather than the "broke & can't afford it" stigma with BNPL.
Your stepdaughters may feel differently when they get rejected from a BNPL company (how embarrassing) as it's now the same process and success rate as applying for a CC.
Proper adults have credit cards. If the process is the same, may was well just apply for one with your own bank. Paypal is always free and are great with disputes. Look at the complaints on BNPL review sites when someone needs a refund and you'll see a big difference. BNPL still charges you installments while you wait for weeks/months for a refund. CCs and Paypal are superfast.
